Parole in Place for Military Families is a process by which family members of US military personnel who may have entered the United States without having been “inspected and admitted or paroled” become eligible to adjust status in the United States and acquire lawful permanent residency. It was introduced in partnership between the Department of Defense and USCIS owing to the undue stress and uncertainty that the undocumented immigration status of spouses, parents, and children of US military personnel may have on the mental health and military preparedness of US Armed Forces. A Parole in Place request may be submitted on behalf of immediate relatives of veterans, reservists, or active service military personnel of the U.S. Armed Forces.
